Environmental Impact Report

Los Angeles Valley College published a Facilities Master Plan Environmental Impact Report (EIR) in August 2003. This EIR evaluated the environmental impacts resulting from implementation of the college’s original Facilities Master Plan and identified measures to mitigate the significant effects of the building projects proposed under the new Master Plan. Following an update to the College's Facilities Master Plan, an addendum memo to the EIR was published in December 2006.

The college decided to update to its Facilities Master Plan again in 2010, and a draft EIR addendum was put together for public comment. In 2011, an Addendum to the 2003 Environmental Impact Report (EIR) was prepared under State California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) Guidelines. As a voluntary measure by the college, the community was invited to learn more about LAVC’s Master Plan Update and the environmental process, speak one-on-one with the master plan team, and submit formal comments about the plan at a Community Open House [PDF: 289KB] that was held on February 1, 2011. As another good-faith effort, LAVC held a Community Update on Construction [PDF: 517KB] event on March 3, 2011 to provide the community with an additional opportunity to learn more about the LAVC Master Plan Update. The college has also publicly posted its responses to the comments it received from community on a Web site it has dedicated to providing the public with updates on bond construction.

The 2010 Master Plan Update and the 2010 Addendum Memo to the 2003 Facilities Master Plan was considered by the Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD) Board of Trustees at its February 23, 2011 meeting, but no action will be taken until March 23, 2011. The college made a presentation on the LAVC Master Plan Update [PDF: 3.1MB] to the LACCD Board of Trustees at its February 23, 2011 meeting. The LACCD Board of Trustees approved the EIR Addendum at its March 23, 2011 meeting.
