The Promise at LAVC
APPLY FOR FALL 2023!
Complete the following required components by August 21, 2023:
1. Apply to the Promise: Complete the LA College Promise Application.
Tip! After you submit your LA College Promise App, you will receive an email from a First Year Experience team member who will help you complete your Promise requirements by the deadline. If you have any questions, please contact us at promise@lavc.edu or 818-778-5561 for assistance.
2. Submit your Financial Aid application:
Complete the 2024 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) (US citizens, CA residents) OR 2024 California Dream Act Application (Undocumented, DACA recipients, etc.).
Tip! If you submitted a CA Dream Act App and are a non-resident, you must be eligible for in-state tuition fees under AB 540 to qualify for the Promise. Visit the Welcome Center via Zoom for assistance.
3. Enroll in your First Semester Classes & Request a Student Educational Plan (SEP) & Complete the New Student Orientation
Click on the New Student Orientation and Enrollment webpage and follow the instructions.
Note: You must enroll in at least 12 units or receive an exemption from Services for Students with Disabilities (SSD) and ask SSD to send it to the FYE/Promise office.

4. Complete a New Student Transition Program to learn more about LAVC's majors, Student Support Programs, and the Promise benefits.
