Meet the Team

Eduardo Galeana
Director - TRiO Programs (SSS/UB/UBMS)

Eduardo Galeana has served as the Director of TRiO Programs since September 2022. In his role, Eduardo oversees the day-to-day operations and management of the Student Support Services Program, Upward Bound, and Upward Bound Math & Science Programs.

Prior to joining the LAVC community, Eduardo worked in areas of grants management at ELAC, LA Harbor College, and LA City College overseeing numerous programs. Eduardo is a product of the community college system, having graduated from East Los Angeles College, and is the first of his family to earn his undergraduate and graduate degrees. 

Eduardo holds a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from San Francisco State University, and a Master's Degree in Education from UCLA. 

Gabriela Caballero
Counselor - TRiO SSS Program

Gabriela Caballero serves as the counselor for the TRIO/Student Support Services (SSS) Program. In addition, she assists in the coordination of events and program development. She has over 15 years of experience in higher education. Prior to LA Valley she worked for LAUSD, the CSU system and various campuses through LACCD: Mission, Trade Tech, and Pierce.  She has an extensive background working with a diverse student population. 

She is a proud product of the community college system, and first in her family to attend college and obtain a degree in higher education. She transferred to Cal State, Northridge where she earned her BA degree in Psychology and Masters of Science degree in Educational Psychology and College Counseling with an emphasis in Career Counseling.

She is passionate about higher education, student development, mentorship and life-long learning. 

Wilmer Oajaca 
Student Services Aide - TRiO Programs (SSS/UB/UBMS)

Wilmer has served as the Student Services Aide for TRiO since March 2024. In his capacity, Wilmer supports all three TRiO Programs at LA Valley College. Wilmer is a first-generation graduate with a Bachelor’s Degree in Child Development from CSULA and a Master’s Degree in School Counseling from Loyola Marymount University. He has over five years of experience in education, working with students from K-12 and higher education. Prior to his role at LA Valley, Wilmer worked for LAUSD and various campuses within LACCD, including Pierce College and LA City College.

He enjoys going on walks, playing video games, building Legos, and spending time with friends and family. Wilmer has always been passionate about supporting students' development and educational goals.

Melina Valle
Unclassified Paid Intern

Melina Valle is an Unclassified Paid Intern (UPI) with the TRiO Programs. Melina studies Child and Adolescent Development at Cal State Northridge and is a former participant of the TRiO SSS Program at LA Valley College. 

Yuliana Santiago
Unclassified Paid Intern

Yuliana Santiago (right) serves as an Unclassified Paid Intern for the TRiO Program, and is a former TRiO participant. Yuliana is completing her degree in Business Administration at Cal State Northridge
