COVID-19 Rapid Antigen Test Distribution

Students and employees can get up to two FREE Covid-19 at-home rapid antigen testing kits per person, each week at the designated Antigen Test pick up location; Theatre & Music students can pick up 3 kits per student, per week. LACCD COVID Vaccine & Masking Policy Changes for Students

The LACCD Board of Trustees is modifing the District's vaccination policy and to rescind the indoor masking requirement. The following will go to effect on the dates noted below:

  • Effective May 5, 2022, students are not required to provide proof of vaccination or have an approve exemption to enroll in in-person classes or to access District or college facilities. Weekly COVID testing for students with vaccination exemptions will also no longer be required.
  • Effective June 12, 2022, there will no longer be an indoor masking mandate at any of the colleges or at District facilities for employees, students or visitors. Masks are required indoors on-campus for students, employees and visitors until June 12. Starting June 13, individuals may choose to wear a mask if they want to, and free masks will still be available on campus.

Register for Vote by June 7 for the CA Primary

All California active registered voters will receive a vote-by-mail ballot for the June 7, 2022, Primary Election. The last day to register to vote for the June 7, 2022, Primary Election is May 23, 2022.

Important 2022 Primary Election Dates:

  • Monday, May 9: Counties offer early voting sites - to find a location, please visit CAEarlyVoting.sos.ca.gov
  • Monday, May 23: Last day to register to vote online or by mail ahead of the Primary Election
  • Tuesday, May 24 - Tuesday, June 7: Same Day Voter Registration is available - voters can “conditionally” register and vote at a county elections office or polling location after the voter registration deadline, up to and including Election Day
  • Tuesday, May 31: Last day for county elections officials to send a registered voter a vote-by-mail ballot
  • Tuesday, June 7: Primary Election - polls shall be open throughout the state from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Raul Castillo’s (1968-2022) legacy to LA Valley College is an $8.5 million dollar endowment in addition to a roadmap on how the Foundation can move forward. This interview is his love letter to LAVC.

The Associated Student Union (ASU) has new student government members that have been elected to serve on the board for the upcoming year. Visit the ASU Elections page to view the new members who will representing you.

The Los Angeles Community College District African American Outreach Initiative program (LACCD-AAOI) proudly presents the 12th Annual Black Graduation Celebration on May 24 from 3-5 p.m. at the First AME Church of Los Angeles. The BGC is a culturally affirming celebration of academic achievement. There will also be an in-person social gathering (afterparty) from 5-6:30 p,m. Graduating students are encouraged to register online for the LACCD Black Graduation Celebration.

The Los Angeles Community College District invites graduating students to participate in its inaugural Mi Gente Graduation Celebration on June 5 at 4 p.m. at East LA College. This cultural celebration, which is open to graduating students and their families from all nine LACCD Colleges, features special keynote speakers, Constance Marie and Danny Trejo. LAVC Extended Opportunities Programs & Services (EOPS) is now accepting applications for new students! Eligible students receive helpful counseling, priority registration, funds to help pay for textbooks and more. For more information and the online application, visit EOPS. The deadline to apply is September 11.

The LAUSD, city of Los Angeles, and many nonprofits are hiring counselors, coaches and program directors for their summer programs for children. Come to the L.A. Summer Enrichment Programs Job Fair on Saturday, May 21 from 10am-2pm at the Roybal Learning Center in downtown Los Angeles. Sign up online for the job fair, or if you're interested and cannot attend the in-person job fair, apply online.
