BHM: Umoja Allyship Training for Faculty

BLACK HISTORY MONTH (BHM): The LAVC Professional Development and the LAVC Umoja Black Scholars Program invites faculty to an Umoja Allyship Training: Teaching Black Students & Equity Populations in STEM workshop.
This ally training with distingished presenter Dr. Rob Rubalcalba will highlight innovative practices for improving STEM experiences for Black Scholars and other students of color. The workshop will feature culturally relevant and sustaining praxis on how institutions can reimagine more personalized STEM courses and curricula that facilitate healthy learning environments for Black scholars inside and beyond the classroom.
Dr. Rob Rubalcaba is a math professor at San Diego City College. He is an alum of SDSU, earning a B.A. in Mathematics, and attended graduate school at Auburn University, where he earned a Master’s and Ph.D. in Discrete Mathematics. He is a professional DJ and sushi chef, and teaches mathematics through hip-hop, art, sushi, and dance.
