I took ESL level 5A and 5B, and the classes were excellent. The teachers are really knowledgeable and friendly, and you can tell that they really care about the students. Also, I am so happy that I met with new interesting people and made few friends. The class environment here is perfect for learning a new language, students feel comfortable to speak and communicate with each other and with the instructor. I came to the USA two years ago from Armenia. When I came, that time I didn’t know English language. I went to LA Valley College, because I wanted to learn English language. I took ESL classes. It helped me to learn English language, and every year I improve my writing, reading, and listening skills. I am very happy to learn English language here.

When I came to USA, I had no relatives and no friends. I used to know few people, who helped my family out. The first thing the college and ESL classes gave me is I made friends. Most of my friends are from college, and ESL helped my English, and I found a job, which was one of my goals to achieve.

The reason of this email is just to thank you for this semester of ESL 8. I have learned a lot and because of your teaching I've been inspired to continue to get better at my writing and really to improve my grammar. Thanks to this course I've gotten to know a lot of things I didn't know, especially about the US and other cultures. Also, I've learned the importance and power of ideas and how to express them in writing. I will be using all the knowledge I got through your teaching in this course in my everyday writing, not just at work via email but in my texting, too. I've come to find out that I like to write a text the way it is meant to be and not with slang words.

I will continue my studies this fall semester with English 101 and Math 227. I will probably be sharing with you my progress with my studies, my sister strongly suggested on doing this (she graduated from CSUN with a master's degree in Public Health).
