Welcome Center is Here to Help You
The LAVC Welcome Center is your first stop to help you find what you're looking for at Valley College! We are ready to help you in-person, online, and over the phone on Monday-Thursday from 8 a.m.-7 p.m. and Friday from 8 a.m.-1 p.m.
How to Add a Class
Adding Fully Online Classes
If you wish to enroll in fully online classes, you will need to meet with an Admissions & Records staff member on Cranium Café, or in-person at the Student Services Center. Find open classes.
Adding In-Person and Hybrid Classes
Until the second day of class, you can add in-person and hybrid classes using the SIS Student Portal. After the second class meeting, you will need to get a permission number from the instructor to be able to add the class. Please contact the instructor for a permission number.
Officially Enrolling with Permission Number
Use the SIS Student Portal to enter the permission number on or before the add class deadline to be officially enrolled.

Campus Parking
Parking permits are required for the Summer 2024 term. Buy your Summer Parking Permit online or in-person at the Business Office for $7, or buy daily parking permits from a parking pay station for $2 (cash only; selected pay stations accept cash and credit card).
NOTE: There is a two-week parking grace period in student parking spaces only from June 10-25, 2024. Vehicles in parked in staff or reserved spaces without a valid employee parking permit will be cited.
FREE MetroGo Pass for LAVC Students
As an enrolled student, you are eligible for a FREE Metro GoPass TAP Card to take LA Metro buses and trains free of charge!
Online Classes
Accessing Online Classes
To log into your online class through the SIS/Canvas:
- In a web browser, go to the MyCollege.laccd.edu Student Portal
- Login ID/Users ID: Your 9-digit student ID number (example: 881234567 or 900123456)
- Password: Same as your SIS password (where you registered for the class). Show me how to log in to the LACCD Student Portal
Help with Canvas
Valley College Online is available to help you with resources and assistance on Canvas!
You can also access Canvas help on through your Student Portal. Click the "Help" (question mark icon) and select your main college campus. The "Canvas Support" link will take you to a page that allows you to search for questions related to Canvas and start an online chat with Canvas Support.

Join Your CAP Canvas Site TODAY
Based on your selected major, you now belong to one of Valley’s seven Career and Academic Pathways (also known as CAPs). Find your CAP Canvas Site to connect with the people, places, and resources that will support you on your pathway at LAVC.
Academic Support & Library Resources
The LAVC Academic Resource Center offers FREE online and in-person tutoring in English, Math, Statistics 101, and many other subjects. Additional services include weekly workshops, test reviews, study jams, self-instructional handouts, and access to computers and printing through the Computer Commons.
The LAVC Library offers in-person book checkout, study space, and research help; and online access to FREE live help at “Ask A Librarian,” online research and reading materials, and FAQ and online “Get Research Help” guides for self-directed learning.
College Services & Student Life
We offer a variety of college services and support programs to help you succeed:
- Business Office - Pay your registration fees in-person or online, buy your parking permit, and pick up your free Metro GoPass and activation code.
- Campus Bookstore - Purchase textbooks, course materials, class supplies, backpacks, Monarch gear, etc. To search and buy your required textbooks and supplies, go to Buy Textbooks.
- Counseling - Counselors can help identify your educational goal and make sure you take the right classes.
- Financial Aid - Get help paying for college with grants and other resources.
- Services for Students with Disabilities (SSD) - Provides support services, specialized instruction and educational accommodations.
- Student Health Center - Access medical and behavioral health care.
- Connect with student support and resources, such as Basic Needs Center, Dream Resource Center, EOPS, Family Resource Center, NextUp/Guardian Scholars, Puente, Rainbow Pride Center, TRiO, Umoja/Black Scholars, and Veterans Resource Center.
Food Services
Purchase food on-campus at these locations:
- Lion Café – Buy coffee, grab-and-go food items, and snacks.
- Monarch Campus Store – Buy Subway box lunches, snacks, candy, cold drinks & ice cream.
- Campus Vending Machines – Buy grab-and-go prepared foods and snacks, candy, soft drinks, coffee and more.
