Monarch Memo—Men's Swim Tim Hornyak Named Male Co-Swimmer of the WSC Conf. Championships

Congrats to Tim Hornyak of Men's Swimming for being named the men's co-swimmer at the WSC Conference Championship; the Men's Swimming team placed third and Women's Swimming moved up to ninth place.

Monarch Memo—Men's Swim Tim Hornyak Named Male Co-Swimmer of the WSC Conf. Championships

The LAVC Athletics Department congratulates Tim Hornyak of Men's Swimming! He won the Western State Conference (WSC) meet in three events, and was named men's co-swimmer of the meet. Next, Tim, along with seven other members of Men's Swimming, will swim at the State Meet at East LA College.

The following lists the schedule of each teams games for the week of April 23-29:

  • Baseball (5-33) will finish their season this week with a game on Tuesday, April 25, at Mission College, and at home on Friday, April 28 at 2:30 p.m. versus West LA at the LAVC Baseball Field.
  • Softball (3-31)  will finish their season at home, with a double header versus Glendale College on Tuesday, April 25 at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. at the LAVC Softball Field.
  • Men's Swimming finished third in the WSC Conference. Tim Hornyak won three individual events, and was the men's co-swimmer athlete of the meet. Next up, six members of men's swimming will compete in the 2017 CCCAA's (California Community College Athletic Association) Swimming and Diving State Championship Meet at East Los Angeles College on May 4-6.  
  • Women's Swimming has finished their season and represented well at the WSC Conference Championships at Hancock College. The team moved up to 9th place at the meet.

The LAVC Athletics Department's Monarch Athletics program comprises of 10 intercollegiate athletic teams. The Men's Football, Women's Soccer, and Men and Women's Water Polo teams play every fall. Spring team sports include Men's Baseball, Men's and Women's Basketball, Women's Softball, and Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving.
