Valley Star Named a Finalist for Community College Newspaper of the Year

The LAVC Valley Star has been named as one of four Pinnacle Award finalist for the community college newspaper of the year by the College Media Association. COVID Vaccination and Testing Requirement & How to Submit a Vaccination Exemption

The Los Angeles Community College District's Board of Trustees made a significant Board Policy change about COVID-19 vaccine and testing requirements to access college and District facilities. Read the COVID-19 Vaccine and Testing Requirements for All LACCD Students.

  • Free COVID-19 Vaccinations are available on campus. LAVC students & employees are eligible for a $150 Bookstore Gift Card with each vaccine dose given at the on-campus vaccination clinics
  • Our new vendor, Biocept, takes over the COVID-19 Testing and Screening operations at LAVC (replacing the LAVC Safe App and self-check-in on our website).‚Äč Effective September 13, 2021, students and employees need to take the short, self-check health questionnaire by Cleared4 to access a college or District facility. Check your student email for a "Welcome to LACCD's Vaccination and Testing Site message from Cleared4.
  • The deadline to create your Biocept profile and get a free baseline COVID-19 test is October 8, 2021. Check your student email for a message from Cleared4 to create your Biocept profile account, and schedule your baseline COVID-19 test. 
  • The deadline for being fully vaccinated for in-person classes and uploading vaccination information or having an exemption is October 18, 2021. You will use the Cleared4/Biocept system will also be used to upload vaccination information.
  • If you need to submit a medical or religious vaccination exemption, watch the COVID-19 Medical or Religious Vaccination Exemption Video before submitting your documents.  Follow these steps to access the video that explains how to submit a medical or religious exemption using the student information system.

COVID-19 Vaccination & Testing Pop-Up Clinic

LAVC is partnering with Fulgent Genetics to hold on-campus COVID-19 Vaccination & Testing Pop-Up Clinics to give students, employees and the public to get the vaccine. All three vaccines options will be available. For each dose an LAVC students and employees receives at these pop-up events, he/she receives a $150 gift card to the LAVC Bookstore. Plus, LAVC students who get their vaccination at our event are also eligible for up to $150 with the Max the Vax districtwide incentive. COVID testing is also available, but is not eligible as the baseline testing that is part of the District's vaccination requirement.

"Art is Good for You" Series: Human Paper Dolls Workshop

Wednesday, September 29 at 12 p.m.

Join the LAVC Art Gallery in its lecture and workshop series for LAVC Special Programs. In this workshop, Dakota Noot will demonstrate creating wearable art and characters through drawing. With crayons, markers, and pencils, you too can transform yourself and your environment. Fall 2021 - Last Day to Petition for Pass/No-Pass

Friday, October 1

The last day to petition for a pass/no-pass grade for a Fall 2021 course with the LAVC Admissions & Records Office is October 1, 2021. The last day to petition to for a pass/no pass grade is on the Friday of the 5th week of the semester.

Newly Added 8-Week Late-Start Classes! Enroll Now in Classes Starting October 28

It's not too late to enroll in "late-start" classes (2nd 8 weeks) starting on October 25! If you can, take extra classes to help you earn a degree, transfer to a university or train for a new career. Check our LAVC Fall 2021 Class Schedule for a list of Late-Start classes, or check the searchable class schedule for 2nd 8 week classes. Use your Student Portal to register for classes online. If you need help registering, contact our In-Person & Online Student Support for assistance.

$1000 Federal Awards for Students with Financial Aid

Every LA Valley College student enrolled for Fall 2021 who qualifies for financial aid is eligible to receive a $1000 federal stimulus award. To receive the award, you must:

  • Have LAVC as your home campus,
  • Be enrolled at Valley College for Fall 2021, AND
  • Be eligible for the FAFSA, California College Promise Grant (fee waiver), Dream Act Grant, or demonstrate economic hardship resulting from COVID-19

If you haven't already applied for financial aid, complete your Free Application for Federal Student (FAFSA) application (LAVC code is 001228) or complete the California College Promise Grant Application

If you already applied for financial aid, there is no need for you to do anything further. You will automatically receive the award if you qualify.
