VCAP Accelerated Degrees, Certificate, & Transfer Options

Valley College Accelerated Program (VCAP) transfer Degree Tracks are designed to meet the needs of busy students who want to earn an Associate Degree and/or Transfer Certification in two years. VCAP offers four degree tracks, and a Child Development Occupation Certificate. Working with the VCAP Counselor, VCAP degree tracks can be used to accommodate four varieties of majors. Some majors may require traditional 16-week semester courses be taken in combination with VCAP track courses. 

Health Science (Pre-Nursing/RN) A.S. Degree
Educator Preparation Degree

Child Development Occupation Certificate: Associate Teacher,   Preschool (A)
Business Preparation/Business/Accounting Transfer and/or   Economic AA Degree

   HEALTH SCIENCE (PRE-NURSING/RN) A.S. DEGREE...CLICK HERE FOR CLASS SCHEDULE & INFORMATION
 


WANT TO BE A NURSE/PHYSICAL THERAPIST/ OR A DENTAL HYGIENIST?

This VCAP Transfer Degree offers courses to prepare students to complete the RN prerequisites General Education requirements, along with two of the five necessary science classes in Biology 3 and Chemistry 51. Other required Science classes in Anatomy, Physiology, and Microbiology 20, need to be taken from regular program.  Courses can be applied to additional majors, such as Pre-Respiratory Therapy, Pre-Dental Hygiene, and a General Studies Degree in Natural Sciences.

According to the Occupational Outlook Handbook, registered nurses constitute the largest health care occupation, with 2.5 million jobs. About 59 percent of jobs are in hospitals. Registered nurses are projected to generate about 587,000 new jobs over the 2006-16 period, one of the largest numbers among all occupations; overall job opportunities are expected to be excellent, but may vary by employment setting.

This VCAP Transfer Degree offers courses that complete the lower division transfer requirements for California Multiple Subjects or Teaching Credential (Elementary School) at four-year university. 

Whether you're interested in working as a professor, elementary school teacher, special education instructor or corporate trainer, you're sure to find a career in education extremely rewarding.

WANT TO WORK WITH CHILDREN AS AN EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATOR?


This VCAP one year, 12 unit child care certificate provides students with the necessary skills to work as a Child Care Center Associate Teacher in a private, for profit center as defined in Title V.

The need for Early Childhood Education services is growing along with the number of after-school and summer programs, and with the growing population this means more opportunity for you!

   BUSINESS PREPARATION/BUSINESS/ACCOUNTING TRANSFER AND/OR ECONOMIC AA DEGREE
       
 

WANT TO BE AN ACCOUNTANT? WORK IN MANAGEMENT, OR START A SMALL BUSINESS?

This VCAP Transfer Degree provides courses that prepare students in Business for transfer to a California State University as well as to many other private and public colleges.

New trends in business include outsourcing, exporting, and senior living, and internet-related business, green and medical tourism. For understanding the major factors affecting these trends, students working with businesses will need to have classes in accounting, economics, and business to be able to help their companies be profitable.

   GENERAL STUDIES DEGREE IN (SOCIAL AND BEHAVORIAL OR NATURAL SCIENCES) CERTIFICATE OF  ACHIEVEMENT
       
 

WANT TO EARN A BROAD BASED DEGREE IN SOCIAL AND BEHAVIORAL SCIENCES OR NATURAL SCIENCES?

This VCAP General Studies Degree offers all the necessary courses, using the classes in this degree track and those listed above, for students to complete a General Studies Degree in Social and Behavioral Sciences or Natural Sciences.  Your general studies degree can serve as a prerequisite for a professional career or as a stepping stone to a college degree in another discipline. In either case, a general studies degree can be the most personally rewarding degree available, precisely because it is so broad. You'll develop a basic knowledge of classical studies and study a selection of electives in the liberal arts, humanities, and sciences.
