Do you want to speak at Commencement?

Two (2) students will be selected to speak during commencement. Simply write a 3-5 minute speech addressing the graduating students on the following topic:

"Los Angeles Valley College gives students an opportunity to develop their skills, to refine their talents, and to celebrate sucess."  Describe how this relates to your experience. 

Auditions for student speakers will be:

Do you have a unique story you want to share?

Do you have a unique story about your background, college experience, or the struggles that you overcame to graduate from LAVC that you would be willing to share with the media? For example, are you a parent with unique circumstances, are you graduating with your spouse, sibling, or children, or have you overcome huge personal obstacles to be able to graduate?

The Los Angeles Times and Daily News would like to feature a LAVC graduate who has an interesting story to tell. If you would like to share your story, please email Jennifer Borucki at with a brief summary. Deadline is May 22, 2015.

Want to share what College/ University you will be transferring to this Fall on the LAVC Marquee? 

LAVC would like to publicly recognize students who will be transferring to four-year colleges and universities in the Fall 2015 on the college's two electronic marquees.  The announcement will appear on the marquee on June 11th, so you can take a photo showing your name in lights on the day of graduation!

If you'd like to share what school you're transferring to, please send an email with your name, the school you are transferring to, and your student ID number to by Friday, June 5th.
