Child Development Faculty Speak at ECSTEM Conference

LAVC Child Development Department faculty Dr. Elmida Baghdaserians and Dr. Veronica Getskow gave a "Teacher Must Reads to inform Best Practices in ECE" presentation at the 10th annual Early Childhood STEM Conference in Pasadena.

Child Development Faculty Speak at ECSTEM Conference

Dr. Elmida Baghdaserians, professor of child development and department chair, and Dr. Veronica Getskow, assistant professor of child development, were invited to present at the 19th annual Early Childhood Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (ECSTEM) Conference on February 28 at the Pasadena Hilton.

Their presentation on "Teacher Must Reads to Inform Best Practices in Early Childhood Education (ECE)" focused on issues related to equity, poverty and mental health in ECE.

The ECSTEM Conference promotes the importance of introducing STEM education in early childhood (birth through eight years). The event is hosted by the Children's Center at CalTech. For more information about the conference and the presentation, visit the Early Childhood STEM webpage.
