Adam Brackman, a LAVC Geology/Earth Science major, has been selected to participate in the NASA Community College Aerospace Scholars project (NCAS) and will visit NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory Center in June. Congratulations!

LAVC Speech Team Wins Team Bronze and 3 Individual Golds at the National Championships
LAVC Speech Team Wins Team Bronze and 3 Individual Golds at the National Championships

Congratulations to the LAVC Speech Team for earning a team bronze medal, 3 individual gold medals, 1 individual silver medal, and 12 individual bronze medals at the 2017 Phi Rho Pi National Speech Competition near Washington D.C. In addition, team member Maia Gaboian was honored with the Warren-Dahlin Student Fellowship Award.

Good luck to the Men's and Women's Swimming as they head to the WSC Conference Championship at Hancock College on April 21-23. Cheer on our Monarchs at home as Softball plays Victor Valley on April 18 at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. at the Softball field, and Baseball plays West LA on April 18 at 2:30 p.m. and Bakersfield on April 20 at 2:30 p.m. in the Baseball field.

Congratulations to LAVC Adjunct Assistant Professor Nancy Shiffrin for having her poetry published in the upcoming Altadena Poetry Review: Anthology 2017. She will read her newly published poetry at the book's "Poetry and Cookies Celebration" publication party on April 29 from 1-4 p.m. at the Altadena Public Library.

Dr. Douglas Marriott has been named as the new Dean of Adult/Community Education & Workforce Development at LAVC. In this new role, he will advance the Adult Education initiatives on campus, oversee Workforce Training and the Cooperative Education Center, and work directly with the CalWORKs/GAIN and Technology departments.

LAVC President Endrijonas Named Pioneer Woman of the Year

Congratulations to LAVC President Dr. Erika Endrijonas on being recognized as the "2017 Pioneer Woman of the Year" by LA City Councilmember Paul Krekorian. She was honored as a leader who champions gender equity in the city.
