Congratulations to LAVC President Emeritus and former LACCD Chancellor Tyree Wieder, and her husband Les on recently publishing a new book titled Matzo Balls and Cornbread: A Love Story. This story focuses on how they embraced each other’s history and cultures, while merging those differences into a life that celebrates both.

LAVC Physics Students Celebrated Metric Day 2017

LAVC Physics students recently celebrated Metric Day by inviting students, faculty and staff to guess their weight in meters and kilograms. This activity was held to raise awareness about the Metric system, which is used throughout the world, and to encourage people to sign a petition for the United States to move to the metric system.

LAVC Fellows Celebrates a New Cohort Graduation
LAVC Fellows Celebrates a New Cohort Graduation

Congratulations to the graduates of cohort 17 of the LA Fellows program! The graduating class included 20 unemployed or underemployed individuals who participated in a unique 9-week workforce training program that incorporates volunteering at a non-profit while seeking full-time employment. Four Fellows in Cohort 17 have already secured paid work since classes began.

The way you access Canvas has changed as of August 21, 2017. You will now need to log into Canvas using your SIS/SAP ID login and password to access online, hybrid or web-enhanced LAVC courses.

Get real-time updates to you via email, text and/or voice message during the event of an emergency on campus. Faculty and staff should enter their emergency contact info on the LACCD Portal, and the students can submit a Student Information Change form with the Admissions Office.

LAVC Mosaic Center Now Open in the Student Services Center!

Did you know? LAVC has a new Mosaic Center on the second floor of the Student Services Center. It is home to specially-funded support programs, including Veterans, Black Scholars, and the Mi Comunidad Dream Resource Center, and offers services such as counseling, tutoring, workshops, student clubs, and a computer labs to eligible students who have been disproportionately impacted and identified under the Student Equity Plan.
