LAVC Athlete Sydney Hua Named a 2016 Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar

Sydney Hua on the LAVC Women's Basketball team was recognized as a 2016 Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar by Diverse: Issues in Higher Education Magazine. She is the only CA community college student athlete that was honored for her excellence in the classroom as well as on the athletic field.

LAVC graduate Amber Angel was invited by the U.S. Department of Education to speak on how public policy can better support student parents on college campuses at the "Better Outcomes through a 2Gen Approach: Federal Agencies Focus on Serving Whole Families" Conference in Washington, D.C.

LAVC Selects the 2016-2017 Book for its One Book, One College Program
LAVC Selects the 2016-2017 Book for its One Book, One College Program

The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks has been selected as LAVC's 2016-2017 One Book, One Campus book selection. All faculty members who incorporate the book into their course curriculum will receive one free copy of the book. There will also be an optional online book club for faculty/staff beginning on June 20.

Athletics Update!—Tim Hornyak Breaks School Swim Records at State Championships!

Congratulations to Tim Hornyak of Men's Swimming, who finishes 5th in the state in the 200 breaststroke and is 6th in the state in the 400 IM. He also broke school records in each of those events.

LAVC recognized its employee's years of service, new employees, retirees and tentured faculty, and presented the 2016 Above and Beyond Award winners to Fatema Baldiala, Meghan Gaynor Cason, Michelle Fowles, Larry Nakamura, Alex Ojeda, Ellie Rabani, and Hector Salazar! LAVC's TAE Honors Club also awarded its 2016 Apple Awards to Michael Arshagouni, Jessica Glick, Lucas Haley, and Tiffany Lanoix. Congratulations!

Introducing Bank Mobile Vibe! Your Higher One Account becomes Bank Mobile Vibe

Financial aid disbursements will transition from Higher One to Bank Mobile Vibe on June 1, 2016. There is no action required on your part! As of May 4, 2016, you can now get cash off-campus without paying any fees at Allpoint ATM locations located at Target, Target, CVS/Pharmacy, Walgreens, 7-Eleven, and more! In addition, the on-campus ATM location has been moved to the Student Union (next to the Cafeteria).
