World Championship: Kyle Ballew finished 7th with a vault of 5.0 at the competition in Canada. Soviet Anton Ivakin took the gold, vaulting 5.5.

National Champion: Pole vaulter Kyle Ballew, who equalled his personal best at the national competition in Iowa to become the U.S. National Junior Champion, has placed 8th in the top 12 in the world championship in Canada. Competition continues on Thursday, July 22.

Swimming and Diving: Jim McMillan named WSC Coach of the Year

More Swimming and Diving: Monarch swimming finishes 14th in state, second in Conference. State finals:
  • Gary Arthur takes state championship in 200 butterfly (1:52.04) while taking fourth place in 100 butterly (50.67 - new school record)
  • Kris Plavchyan becomes state champion while setting school record in 200 backstroke (1:52:37) while placing sixth in 100 backstroke (52:41 - new school record)
  • 400 medley relay - 3:32.21 (new school record)
  • 200 medley relay - 1:39.36 (new school record)
