Steps to VCAP

Eligibility Requirements
Establish your English and Mathematics placement level by taking the assessments, providing transcripts of prior courses, or assessment scores from another community college. Students who are eligible for English 101 and place above Math 125 are invited to enroll in VCAP track offerings. Students needing prerequisite classes begin in the Bridge Program.

To participate in VCAP, follow these steps in the order below:

1. Application
Fill out an application for LAVC and return it to the Admissions Office. Complete a VCAP application and return it to the VCAP office in Campus Center, Room 215.

2. Assessment
Take the Mathematics and English placement assessments in Engineering Room 100 anytime Monday through Thursday, 9AM – 7:30 PM or 9 AM – 3 PM Friday.

3.Counseling
Contact VCAP counselor Neil Roberts (Campus Center Rm. 216) for guidance in choosing courses, selecting a major, and developing your educational plan. Neil may be reached by phone at (818) 947-2476.

4. Enrollment
Call the STEP (Student Telephone Enrollment Program) at (818) 922-2222 to register for your classes or use the Internet (www.lavc.edu). You must have a registration appointment from the Admissions Office in order to enroll.

5. Orientation
Attend your scheduled orientation to ask questions, meet with your instructors, and hear about the program from seasoned VCAP students. Orientations for new VCAP students are held before each eight-week session. Attendance is mandatory. Students new to LAVC must attend a regular student orientation as well as a VCAP orientation.
