Wellness & Fitness Happy Hour - Tai Chi

The Valley Presbyterian Hospital Student Health Center at LAVC and the LAVC Kinesiology Department is offering its Fall 2018 Wellness and Fitness Happy Hour activities.

This series of 9 free wellness and fitness activities is designed to help motivate LAVC students, faculty and staff to live healthier lives by attending a free fitness class once a week (at different times each week) during the Fall 2018 semester.

Students, faculty and staff who are interested in attending should bring their student or staff ID. Please wear comfortable clothing and shoes fit for exercising. Water and a light snack will be available to attendees. Free giveaway drawings will take place at every workshop.

The following is a list of the Fall 2018 Wellness and Fitness Happy Hour" activities*:

  • Rock Climbing with Gary Honjio on Tuesday, October 2 from 2:30-3:30 p.m. in Community Services Center's Multipurpose Room 1. Come learn to climb on the artificial rock wall on campus. 

  • Yoga with Kiha Lee on Wednesday, October 10 from 1:30-2:30 p.m. in the Community Services Center's Multipurpose Room 2. Join us as for a series of physical yoga postures that connect the mind & body.

  • Tai Chi with Chauncey Maddren on Thursday, October 18 from 4:40-5:30 p.m. in Community Services Center's Multipurpose Room 2. Tai Chi is a type of martial arts that promotes balance & inner peace.

  • Aerobics with Anna Morente on Monday, October 22 from 5-6 p.m. in the North Gym's Exercise Room. This physical activity strengthens your heart, lungs and cardiovascular system.

  • Campus Walk with Patty Melody on Thursday, November 1 from 11:20 a.m.-12:45 p.m.; meet at the Monarch Stadium track. Join us for a 1.5 mile loop around the campus. Bring comfortable walking shoes.

  • Walking with Sonia Nodal on Monday, November 5 from 11:20-12:45 p.m.; meet at the Monarch Stadium track. Join us for a walk around the track. Bring comfortable walking shoes. *Aerobics with Anna Morente is cancelled in the North Gym's Exercise Room.

  • Circuit Training with Frankie Garcia on Tuesday, November 13 from 11 a.m.-12 p.m. in the Fitness Center in the South Gym. Try circuit training where you perform a different exercise activity every 3-5 minutes.

  • Pre-Thanksgiving Workout with Dave Mallas on Tuesday, November 20 from 5-6 p.m. at the Monarch Stadium Track. 

  • Rock Climbing with Gary Honjio on Thursday, November 29 from 2:30-3:30 p.m. in the Community Services Center's Multipurpose Room 1. Come learn to climb on the artificial rock wall on campus.

* Please note: Dates, times and locations may be subject to change due to extreme weather and/or rain.

Parking: Guest should park in Parking Structure – 2-4 Floors. Parking permits are required at all times. Daily Parking permits for student parking spots can be purchased at an LAVC parking pay station. View campus map
