The LAVC 411 contains the latest news and information from all the LAVC committees. This page shares brief overviews of the latest action items, motions passed, and decisions made from each committee meeting. It also contains a link to contact the committee chair, a link to the committee's Web page and minutes (if available), and a link to the college's online calendar of upcoming meetings and other events. - Academic Senate meeting: June 17, 2010
- Motion passed: Approve high school articulation agreement, procedures, and request form, and credit by examination revision.
- Motion passed: Approve DE waiver Etudes request form.
- Motion passed: Deny IPC recommendation that FTEF allocation be made to Workforce Development beginning 7/1/10 at the discretion of the Vice President of Academic Affairs in consultation with the Director of Workforce Development, not to exceed 5 FTEF.
- Motion passed: That FTEF allocation be made to Workforce Development Dept. beginning 7/1/10 not to exceed 1 FTEF for the 2010-11 academic year to be re-evaluated in Sp. 2011.

Professional Development Advisory Committee

- Based on analyzing the results of our professional development survey, we will publish Learning Matters in hard copy once a semester but send most info via email. We need to do a better job of promoting our website. We will contact volunteers who can lead workshops.
- Hold sessions next year on enriching activities (e.g., yoga, dancing, opera, travel) and send an all-faculty email to ask what enrichment topics faculty would be willing to share.
- To conform to State Chancellor’s Office requirements, a professional development plan needs to be filled out by all classroom faculty and submitted to the Office of Professional Development by September 30.
Public Arts Committee

- Josh Miller was elected Chair of Space and Work for the next two year term.
- A ground level tented area will be provided for those needing wheel chair access at the Commencement ceremony this year.
STARS Committee
Updates:
Date of Last Meeting: Sept. 2, 2010
- Decided on a mission statement: Plan and hold events that support student success. Planned three Fall STARS activities
- Mon. Sept. 27 1-2:30 pm Fireside Room [title TBD – topic: “Planning for Success”] Short appointments with counselors, like speed dating, www.assist.org, goal setting/time management

Student Success Committee (SSC)

- Approved revised course SLO form and forwarded to Curriculum Committee for approval.
- Reviewed assessment submissions for Math 113, 115 and 125.
- Discussed revisions to course assessment report form and set committee goals for 2010-2011.
